1. Book Collection Through the Enquiry Form
Start by sending the details of the instrument through the enquiry form on our contact page. Include the instrument type, quantity, suburb or town, and any urgency or site deadlines so we can plan the collection properly. For customers in Isando, Kempton Park, Edenvale, Germiston, Boksburg, Jet Park, Meadowdale and Midrand, we can usually move collection quickly through local courier routes.
For nationwide customers, collection is arranged from your address and handed over to our courier partner for transport to our calibration lab in Isando, Kempton Park. If your team works around shift changes, stock takes or plant shutdown windows, tell us upfront so the booking can fit your schedule. It helps avoid delays and keeps instruments out of circulation for the shortest possible time.
- List each instrument clearly with model, range and quantity
- Note if any items are damaged, out of tolerance or urgent
- Confirm the collection address and a contact person on site
- Let us know if access rules apply, such as security sign-in or loading bay times
2. Prepare the Instruments for Safe Transit
Good packing matters, especially for precision instruments with fine jaws, thimbles, measuring faces or electronic displays. Wherever possible, return each item to its own case or wrap it individually so parts do not knock against each other in transit. If you are sending instruments from a workshop, tool room or production floor, keep accessories together with the main unit so nothing gets separated on the way.
In coastal conditions, moisture can build up quickly, so sealed bags, dry packaging and a clean outer box are worth the effort. For sites with irregular hours, make sure digital instruments are switched off and packed securely to prevent accidental activation during transport or storage. A small amount of preparation can prevent avoidable wear, bent components or damaged readings.
- Clean obvious dirt, oil and swarf from each item before packing
- Use bubble wrap, foam or the original case where available
- Keep probes, anvils, cords and certificates together
- Seal boxes properly and mark them with your company name and count
3. Collection, Handover and Transport to the Lab
Once collection is booked, the courier picks up the packed instruments and transports them to our calibration lab in Isando. On handover, the items are checked against the collection list so we can account for each parcel or case received. This intake step is important because it gives both sides a clear record of what was collected and what arrived.
During transport, the focus is on keeping instruments stable and protected. Boxes should not be overloaded, and fragile items are kept separate from heavier tools where possible. If you have a high-volume shipment from a manufacturing site in Germiston or Boksburg, we can group the movement in a way that reduces handling and helps the parcel move through the system without unnecessary stops.
4. Intake at Our Isando Calibration Lab
When the shipment arrives, each instrument is logged in and checked for visible condition, identification marks and service instructions. If a unit arrives with missing parts or obvious damage, the team flags it straight away so the next steps are clear. This intake stage is also where we confirm the work required, whether that is caliper calibration, micrometer calibration, gauge calibration, indicator calibration or another specified service.
The lab team then routes the items to the correct technician and process. Depending on the instrument type, the work may include cleaning, inspection, adjustment and measurement against suitable standards. Our calibration process is handled in-house by trained staff, including Bertus Swanepoel as Senior Calibration Technician and Rukshana Manuel coordinating operations, so the workflow remains controlled from start to finish.
- Each item is logged on arrival
- Visible condition and identification are recorded
- Work instructions are matched to the correct calibration service
- Any exceptions are noted before testing begins
5. Calibration, Checks and Certificate Return
After the calibration work is complete, the instrument is checked again to confirm the results and to make sure it is ready for return. Where the item is within acceptable limits, it is prepared for dispatch with the relevant documentation. If a tool needs attention beyond standard calibration, we let you know what was found so you can decide on the next step. That way there are no surprises when the instrument goes back into service.
Certificates and related paperwork are returned with the instrument or sent with the parcel as arranged. For teams that need evidence for audits, quality systems or internal traceability, this record is part of the value of using a proper calibration lab. It also supports manufacturing and maintenance teams that need dependable readings on the floor, in stores or on site. Accuracy matters when tolerances are tight and rework costs money.
6. Return Dispatch and Delivery Back to Your Site
Once everything is ready, the instruments are packed for return and handed back into the courier network for delivery to your address. We use the same practical process in reverse, with the aim of getting your items back safely and without unnecessary handling. If your site is in Johannesburg, Pretoria, the East Rand or further afield, the return moves through the same nationwide collection and delivery system.
For customers with teams on staggered shifts or multiple branches, return delivery can be arranged to suit the receiving point that works best. If your business in Midrand or Edenvale needs the parcel signed for by a specific person, make that clear in the booking so the handover is smooth. It saves time on the day and reduces the chance of a parcel sitting in a security office or warehouse bay longer than needed.
- Return parcels are packed to protect the calibrated instruments
- Tracking and handover details are kept with the shipment
- Delivery can be matched to your receiving times where practical
- Support continues if you need help checking the returned items
