Book Collection

What the collection service covers

Use this service when you need instruments collected from your site, calibrated in our lab, and delivered back once the work is complete. It suits companies that keep production running in Johannesburg, the East Rand, Pretoria and further afield, especially where equipment must be off-site for a short, defined period.

We collect a wide range of measuring tools and test equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators, height gauges, torque tools, force gauges, pressure gauges, temperature instruments, humidity instruments and multimeters. If your item is sensitive, bulky, or needed for a specific shift plan, collection can save time and reduce handling on your side.

Because many sites operate under tight maintenance windows, we plan the pickup around your access times where possible. That includes factories in Isando, Jet Park, Germiston and Boksburg, as well as offices and workshops in Midrand, Edenvale and Kempton Park.

How to book a pickup from your site

To request collection, send your details through the enquiry form on our contact page. Include the instruments you want collected, your location, and the preferred collection date. If there are site rules such as loading bay access, security clearance, or induction requirements, mention them upfront so the handover runs smoothly.

  • List each instrument type and quantity
  • Give the site address and contact person
  • State whether you need calibration only or calibration plus return delivery
  • Tell us if the items are in daily use and when they can be released
  • Note any special packing, fragile items, or missing cases

Once we receive the request, our team confirms the arrangement and advises on the next step. If your equipment needs to be grouped by department or line number, label it clearly before pickup. That small step helps avoid mix-ups and keeps your records tidy.

Preparing instruments before collection

A little preparation before pickup helps protect the instruments and speeds up intake at the lab. Clean the items lightly so grease, swarf, coolant residue or dust does not interfere with handling. Remove loose accessories unless they must travel with the instrument for calibration or verification.

For battery-powered items, make sure batteries are secure and the device can be switched on if needed for testing. If you have previous calibration certificates, packing notes or asset numbers, place them in a clear sleeve or send the details with the booking. For pressure or temperature devices, mention the expected range of use so we can handle them correctly.

When packing, use the original case where available. If not, use a rigid box with enough protection to stop movement during transport. In coastal humidity or dusty environments, add a dry barrier or sealed wrap where appropriate. It helps avoid corrosion and protects the finish. Don’t leave probes or tips exposed if the item will travel over a long distance.

What happens after pickup

After collection, the instruments are logged into our calibration process and assessed in our lab in Isando, Kempton Park. The team checks each item against the requested service and records the work done. For many businesses, this is the point where planned maintenance and quality control come together, especially when production can not afford guesswork.

Our calibration work is used by engineers, technicians and production teams who need measurements they can rely on during audits, inspections and daily checks. If an item needs attention beyond standard calibration, we will advise on the issue before return. That way you know whether the tool can go back into service straight away or whether further action is needed.

  • Items are identified and logged on arrival
  • Calibration is carried out in the appropriate instrument class
  • Results are recorded for traceability and internal records
  • Return delivery is arranged after the work is finished

For sites with variable schedules, it helps to coordinate collection and return with your receiving and security arrangements. If your receiving office closes early or only certain gates are open, let us know in advance.

Return delivery and handling on arrival

Once calibration is complete, we arrange return delivery to your site or another approved address. Please make sure the receiving person knows the package is coming and can sign for it. In busy industrial areas such as Meadowdale or Boksburg, clear delivery instructions can save time at the gate and reduce delays.

On arrival, inspect the package and check the contents against your records. If your process requires sign-off by quality control or maintenance, complete that step before the instrument is put back into use. We recommend storing certificates together with the asset register or service file, so the history stays easy to find later.

If you need the instruments returned to different departments or branches, tell us at booking stage. Splitting a delivery after the fact can slow things down, so it is better to plan that part early.

Where this service is most useful

Collection is especially useful when you have several instruments due at once, or when a site does not have the time to send staff out for handover. It also helps businesses with strict access controls, where drivers must meet security procedures before anything leaves the premises.

Our clients often use this service for scheduled maintenance, internal audits, supplier quality checks and routine verification. It is practical for manufacturers, maintenance teams, laboratories and technical services that need a steady process without disrupting the work floor.

  • Isando, Kempton Park and Jet Park industrial sites
  • Edenvale, Germiston and Boksburg workshops
  • Midrand offices and technical facilities
  • Nationwide courier collection for out of Gauteng locations

If your business has multiple branches, we can help coordinate collection from more than one site, provided the booking details are clear. That is often the easiest way to keep instruments moving without confusion.

Need help before you submit the form

If you are unsure what to include, send the basics first and our support team will guide you from there. Rukshana Manuel and Khanyisile Nxumalo assist with bookings and customer queries, while Bertus Swanepoel and Candice Jacobs handle the technical and quality side of the process. For field or site related arrangements, Tshepo Radebe coordinates the practical details with you.

Lebohang Motaung oversees the business and keeps the service focused on accuracy, turnaround and clear communication. We aim to make collection simple, whether you are sending one micrometer or a full batch of gauges and test instruments. If something is urgent, say so in the enquiry form and we will respond with the available options.

Our calibration lab is based in Isando, Kempton Park and collection can be arranged nationwide through courier. If your site needs careful handling, fixed delivery instructions or timed access, mention it early so the booking goes through without delays.
